The Intellectual Property and Commercialisation Management Committee (IPCMC)

The Intellectual Property and Commercialisation Management Committee (IPCMC) is responsible for the day-to-day intellectual property and commercialisation matters and processes and will provide advice on these matters tothe Vice-Chancellor via Access MQ.

  • The Director Research and Research Training Services (ex officio)
  • Manager, Research Office (ex officio)
  • External Member 1 (e.g. with Venture Capital experience)
  • External Member 2

  • Business Development Manager - Information & Communication Sciences

  • Secretariat - Office of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research)

Terms of Reference

The Intellectual Property and Commercialisation Management Committee is a Committee Advisory to the Vice-Chancellor and is responsible for the following:

  1. To advise the Vice-Chancellor, via the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), on matters related to the identification, protection and commercialisation of Intellectual Property.
  2. To recommend operating procedures for the management and commercialisation of IP, normally via Access MQ.
  3. To oversee management of the intellectual property and commercialisation process.
  4. To make recommendations to the University's Chief Finance Officer on expenditure of the University's IP Development Fund set up to support pre-commercialisation investment.
  5. To make recommendations to the University's Chief Finance Officer on transfer of the University's ongoing IP investments to the Macquarie Foundation.
  6. To receive broad policy and strategic direction from the Intellectual Property and Commercialisation Committee.
  7. To communicate approved procedures within the University

The Intellectual Property and Commercialisation Management Committee shall meet monthly, and shall have the authority to co-opt additional members with particular expertise, as required. The normal period of appointment for non ex officio members is two years, with the possibility of re-appointment.
