Astronomy and Astrophysics
The Biomolecular Frontiers Research Centre links our international research leaders in microbial functional genomics, proteomics, metabolomics and bioinformatics with high performance University technology pre-positioned for new advances in systems biology.
Biofuels or Alternative Fuels or Fuel Efficiency
The Climate Futures team is a multi-disciplinary group with expertise in climatology, water, coastal processes, geomorphology, ecology, economics, law and governance, social policy, planning and risk analysis. We examine the impacts of climate variability and change.
The Macquarie Centre for Cognitive Science has a special emphasis on three domains of cognition: Pshycholinguistics, Visual Cognition and Cognitive Neurophsychiatry.

The ARC National Key Centre for Geochemical evolution and Metallogeny of continents is based in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Macquarie University. This research focuses on Lithospheric Studies and Global Geodynamics.
International Governance and Performance
The International Governance and Performance Research Centre was established in February 2011. It seeks to encompass all international governance and performance research themes and topics in today's multidimensional, cross-cultural global settings. IGAP seeks to provide leadership in this space with its expertise in:
Governance: international accounting and cross-border business integration, reporting and regulatory compliance frameworks, audit and assurance (external, internal, financial and non-financial), audit committees, risks, ethics, fraud, sustainability and culture.
Performance: management policies, processes and controls, information systems, management reporting, performance measurements, management behaviour, and risk management.
The Centre for Language Sciences encompasses theoretical, experimental and computational issues in a variety of areas including linguistics, psycholinguistics, computational linguistics, lexicography, audiology and speech science.
Lasers and Photonics
The MQ Photonics research centre undertakes fundamental and applied research in lasers and photonics, with a particular focus on seven frontiers of optical science: astrophotonics, biophotonics, microphotonic optical systems, nano-optics and nanophotonics, photonic sources, optical sensing and imaging, and ultrafast laser applications.
