Approval from NSW Department of Education & Training
If your research involves the participation of a NSW public school(s) you will need to seek approval for your research from the NSW Department of Education and Training (DET) via the State Education Research Approvals Process (SERAP).
The process:
- Make your SERAP application on-line via the SERAP Online Applications Web site.
- Submit your electronic application on-line. At this stage your application will not be forwarded to DET. It will remain in the system to be forwarded by the Ethics Secretariat once your hard copy application has been received and checked.
- Forward the hardcopy of your application to the Ethics Secretariat, The Research Office, Level 2, Building C5C, The Research HUB, Macquarie University, NSW 2109.
- The Ethics Secretariat will check your documents and arrange for the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) to sign off on the application on behalf of the University.
- The Ethics Secretariat will forward your hard copy application to the appropriate DET office and lodge your on-line application form.
- DET will then correspond with you directly.
Documents you will need in addition to the SERAP application form:
If you have any inquiries regarding making a submission to DET please contact the Ethics Secretariat, ethics.secretariat@vc.mq.edu.au.
