Each ethical clearance is valid only for 12 months, renewable four times on the submission of a satisfactory Progress Report. On the completion of the project, a Final Report must be submitted.
After 5 years from the initial approval date if you require ethical clearance for the project to continue, you should submit a Final Report for the project and a new application for clearance (on our Application Form). You will then be issued with a new Approval/Reference number. The 5 year limit to ethical clearances allows the Committee to fully re-review research in an environment whereby legislation, guidelines and requirements are always changing (eg. new privacy laws).
The above 'In-House Application Form' is to be submitted by course convenors on behalf of undergraduate students or postgraduate coursework students who will be asked to conduct interviews or other research involving human participants as part of coursework projects or assignments (please also refer to the relevant section regarding "In-House" applications in Guidelines for Application Form.
