HDR Surveys (Includes First Year HDR Student Experience Project)
Macquarie University is committed to providing a strong and supportive research culture for Higher Degree Research (HDR) students. Regular feedback from HDR students on their research experiences and the issues faced in the achievement of research goals is intrinsic to the process of continual HDR improvement. As part of this process, Macquarie University provides a number of HDR student feedback opportunities, most of which are confidential and voluntary (except the Annual Progress Report). Supervisors, Departments and Divisions are not able to access individual student feedback in voluntary surveys.
Commencing & International HDR Students
- First Year HDR Student Experience Project - Feedback through focus group participation and survey on the transition of local and international students into HDR at Macquarie University.
- Feedback on the Central Commencement Program (CCP) – survey and comments.
All HDR Students
- MUSEQ-R HDR Student Survey - Since 2006, MQ have undertaken an annual survey of satisfaction with HDR experience. The Executive Summaries from the 2006 and 2007 reports are now available.
Graduating HDR Students
- National survey, Postgraduate Research Experience Questionnaire (PREQ), offered to HDR students on graduation through Macquarie University and the Graduate Careers Council.
- For students who withdraw, feedback through an exit survey, Reasons for Withdrawal or Non-completion.
Annual Progress Report
In addition to these voluntary and confidential feedback opportunities, there is the compulsory Annual Progress Report through the Higher Degree Research Office and each HDR student’s Division. This occurs in October each year.
