Scholarships opportunities
Subject to scholarship availability the university can support suitable candidates with scholarships of various types. Each of the scholarships has different criteria, so it is essential that potential candidates and supervisors are aware of the various schemes. These are outlined on the HDRO website. Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis.
Applicant
Explore the different sorts of scholarships that are available. Scholarships are awarded competitively so you must be able to demonstrate – and provide evidence for – your scholarly aptitude. Make sure that you leave enough time to develop your application convincingly. If you are successful in gaining a scholarship there will be some associated conditions (such as hours worked in additional employment) and it is your responsibility to read the conditions of the award carefully.
Prospective supervisor
Ensure that prospective students are aware of the various scholarship schemes available to them. Your own Division may have some specific schemes that could benefit the student. It is also possible to target areas for research with dedicated scholarships. Please see the HDRO website for scholarship information.
