Planning your next project
Candidates have spent a long time preparing their theses. It is not unusual for them to feel a little lost as the end comes in sight. If candidates are considering an academic career it is a good idea to discuss with them the possibilities of post-doctoral work, the development of another project related to their thesis, some teaching within the department etc. Mentoring candidates on other careers and opportunities is also an important part of the supervisory relationship.
