The annual progress report

Each year candidates are required to complete and submit an annual progress report. The report is very important as it provides the opportunity for candidate and supervisor to comment on the progress of the thesis and identify any problems. For further details regarding the annual report, please have a look at www.research.mq.edu.au/students/current_students/annual_reports.

Candidate

Make sure you fill in the report honestly. If you feel that your progress is too slow for any reason, then identify that reason and the solutions discussed with your supervisor. For instance, it may be that you have had some trouble with your data collection and you need to repeat the process unexpectedly – this could mean that you may need to ask for an extension of time at a later stage.

Principal supervisor

The annual report enables you to provide advice about the progress of your student. You should be frank and honest in this appraisal. The Dean may be able to set up strategies to support you and your student to get the research completed in a timely fashion if there have been delays.
