EFS Econometrics PhD Scholarship

A Macquarie University Research Excellence PhD scholarship is available in the Department of Economics in the field of time series analysis. The successful candidate will work on a project "Non-stationary time series and panel data". This research is aimed at extending the techniques of non-stationary time series to panel data. The project will generalize tests available for time series to the panel case: for example causality tests among cointegrated variables, tests of fractional integration, etc.
MQRES Scholarships are available to Australian and international students. Applicants should have completed an Australian four-year undergraduate degree in Economics or a closely related discipline with first class honours, or demonstrate equivalent research qualifications (such as a Masters course with substantial research component) from an Australian or overseas University. A strong background in econometrics is necessary.
MQRES scholarships pay a stipend, currently $A19,616 per annum, tax exempt (2007). The Division of Economic and Financial Studies will top-up the stipend to a maximum $A32,500 per annum for the successful applicant. The tenure of the scholarship is a maximum 3.5 years full time, subject to satisfactory progress. Tuition fees will be funded for the scholarship tenure. Eligible domestic students will receive Research Training Scheme (RTS) placement for their tuition. International award holders will have their full tuition fee and Overseas Health Care costs paid under the award.
