LINGPSY MQRES Cognitive Bases of Memory Formation PhD Scholarship

A Macquarie University Research Excellence (MQRES) scholarship is available in the Macquarie Centre for Cognitive Science (MACCS) for a PhD investigating the cognitive bases of memory formation for different kinds of experiences (e.g., testing with words, music, patterns, faces). The project will combine behavioural and brain imaging techniques, and will include neuropsychological studies of patients at Macquarie University Private Hospital (under construction on campus).
MQRES scholarships are available to domestic or international students. Applicants should have equivalent research qualifications to an Australian undergraduate degree with first class honours (such as a Masters degree with a substantial thesis component) in a relevant discipline (such as Cognitive Psychology, Behavioural Neuroscience). Candidates who have experience working with patient groups are particularly encouraged to apply.
The scholarship pays a living allowance, currently $20,007 per annum, tax exempt (2008), and the tenure is a maximum 3.5 years full time, subject to satisfactory progress. Tuition fees will be funded for the scholarship tenure. Additional support for projects and for national and international travel will be available from the Centre.
