Macquarie University Sydney, Australia and the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia, New York, USA are pleased to announce that they are cooperating to jointly fund up to four scholarships for doctoral degree study tenable at Macquarie University and commencing during 2007-2008.  We now invite applications for these scholarships and encourage appropriate faculty scholars at  United Board member institutions to apply to Macquarie University by 15 October (see below for applications).  In conformity with the United Board guidelines, applications should be endorsed by the applicant’s home institution in a letter attached to the student application.

Scholars may apply to study in any of the doctoral degree programs at Macquarie University. These programs are taught in English and designed for three to four years of full-time supervised research study. You may learn more about Macquarie University and about these research programs by visiting the Macquarie website at: http://www.research.mq.edu.au/students/home

Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis; selection will be based on the admission criteria at Macquarie University and will take into account the value of these programs to the applicant’s home institution. These sponsored MQRES scholarships are supported jointly by Macquarie University and the United Board, and cover tuition fees, medical insurance, and a stipend for the scholarship tenure.  Additional allowances will be available towards relocation and thesis costs. Scholarship support will be reviewed annually, with continued support contingent on academic performance.

Macquarie University doctoral candidates can commence at any time during the academic year, however first semester applicants would be encouraged to begin in February and second semester applicants in July in time for the semester's orientation program.
