Australian Postgraduate Award Industry (APAI)
This award is won by the University and an industry partner for a project in an area of common research interest. The APAI award funds a Masters or PhD scholarship in that area at the priority stipend rate. Other conditions are similar to an APA. Tenure is 2 years for a Master and 3 years for a PhD.
The 2008 stipend rate for projects commencing from 2005 is $26,140 per annum currently tax exempt for full time and $14,227 per annum taxable for part time. For projects commencing in 2004 or earlier the stipend is $25,872 per annum currently tax exempt for full time and $14,277 per annum taxable for part time. Stipends are indexed to increase each year.
These awards are normally advertised October to December each year. Students are encouraged to contact academic staff in their area of research interest to enquire about the possibility of awards.
